PyonKoyomi
Not yet released on the App Store.
Explore Japanese dates, seasons and calendar traditions with watercolor illustrations. PyonKoyomi is an app for iPhone and Apple Watch. The app interface is in Japanese.
A calendar for any day
See Gregorian and Japanese era dates, the traditional lunisolar date, solar terms, the 72 microseasons, moon phase and age, and rokuyō. Holidays, observances and applicable calendar annotations appear on the same page. Browse adjacent days or choose a date directly. Past dates also show elapsed time, age and the number of days until the next birthday.
Browse seasonal changes
The seasonal timeline lists changes in solar terms and microseasons, lunar events, holidays, observances and calendar annotations in date order. Choose which information to show or hide.
Understand calendar terms
Tap a calendar item to read its dictionary entry. Learn its pronunciation, meaning, cultural context and the method adopted by the app. Traditional calendar annotations are not combined into a luck score or prediction.
On your Home Screen and watch face
Small and Medium Home Screen widgets, Lock Screen widgets and Apple Watch complications provide finished layouts for dates, calendar and seasonal information, the moon, and an overview. The Watch app offers a simple daily view with access to adjacent days.
Free features and PyonKoyomi Plus
Calendar browsing, date lookup and the dictionary are free. Date widgets and complications showing Gregorian and Japanese era dates are also free. A one-time PyonKoyomi Plus purchase unlocks the additional calendar, season, moon and overview widgets and complications. There is no subscription. Check the App Store or app for the price at release.
Based on Japan Standard Time
Calendar information is calculated locally using Japan Standard Time. Date lookup covers October 23, 1868 through December 31, 2117. Results apply the app’s adopted rules; they are not a complete reconstruction of historical printed calendars.
Requirements
Requires an iPhone with iOS 26 or later. Apple Watch features require watchOS 26 or later. The initial release will be available in Japan only.
